TULSA, Oklahoma – Oklahoma is no longer number one for lack of public school funding in the nation. But we are number two, behind only Texas, according to a new report by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
Last year’s teacher walkout led to the largest public education funding increase nationwide in 2018.
But Oklahoma’s per-pupil spending is still 15 percent less than it was when the recession hit in 2008.
