Alabama’s K-12 schools report a 50.7% increase in COVID-19 cases over last week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBMA) — Alabama’s K-12 school systems are reporting a 50.7% increase in new COVID-19 cases since last Friday.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health K-12 COVID Dashboard, school systems statewide saw a 500 case increase in one week.

Last week, 1,056 cases were reported to ADPH compared to 1,592 cases this week.

School districts are asked to report the number of new COVID-19 cases among students and employees of which they are aware on a weekly basis. The dashboard provides data to help inform the decisions of parents and local officials. It is important to note that it is not indicated or implied that any or all of the cases reported were infected while at school facilities.
