Teachers from Dublin City Schools are planning a protest Saturday morning over the Minneapolis Police killing of George Floyd.ListenListening…0:38

Davis Middle School language arts teacher Cortney Ingram came up with the idea, along with a friend who’s a school counselor.

“We were just talking one night,” Ingram says, “and we were like, ‘You know, we know that as educators our goal in life is to educate, lead and be role models for our students.'”

Ingram says as a teacher, it’s important to address issues of systemic racism. Teachers will line the sidewalks of Ohio Route 161 and Dublin Bridge Street District. Ingram expects teachers from other school districts to show up as well.

“As far as showing up and showing our support, we knew we needed to do something,” Ingram says. “So we decided, why not have all the teachers come together in our district and show our support for our families and our students?”

The protest is scheduled from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday
